Title: He and She / compatability.
Acrylic on 30" x 48" canvas.
$1500.00
Of course from me the artist and an artistic point of view the depiction is without prejudous to same gender couples. The laws and culture of our guests (meaning the non native population in our territory) continues to evolve much faster than ours Mohawk law and tradition at the grass root level are difficult to change. Our lawmakers are not mandated by an election process. Rather they are mandated through a process that connects them to the voice of all of our people. Our justice system provides for the connection between lawmakers and the community and nation with every motion on any subject that would effect our communities toward change. In regards to our future our people are concerned with the culture and tradition as a whole being threatened by inter-marriage between our people and "our guests". I am sure the concept of same gender couples who rely on adoption of children outside our communities will be seen as another threat to the suvivablility of our
people. Also the notion of our suvivalbility through the adoption of children from other indigenoous nations other than from within our confederacy I beleive would be seen as a similar threat.

The beadwork on your left was taken from google imigaes available on the internet. If you are interested in something like this I would be glad to find a beadworker for you. Leave your name , what you are interested in and your return address I must tell you that these are works of art and carrry price tags that reflect this standard. The patterns are unique to that of the original beadworrker. Many, many hours are spent on this type of work. I have some experience in designing and creating beaded watch bands. But the value of course stradles between the workmanship and the bead workers ability and representation. In most cases the authentic and original designs are past down from elders. At times one beadworker can identify the work of another. My grandmother was able to do this. She was always interested in the work of her competitors.

Title: The Potter ( vision 5 )
Ancrylic on 30" x 36" canvas
Seen during one of my meditation sessions. An elder starman potter making a vessal or vase, At this place the stars were bright and the only light in the sky. Grandmother moon was repremanding our eldest brother. (off to the right which seemed like a door to another message or vision)
The two row wampum belt below is one of the more important comemorative items of the iroquois confederacy. The rows represent the parallel path of two different peoples and cultures bound together in a relationship or peace, friendship and respect. From the first treaty with the dutch in 1613 this concept became known in history to confirm the relationship of those key players in the fur trade from north to south and vise versa. However for us this concept was and still is the basis of all of relationsships nation-to-nation. There were many players involved in the fur trade at that time including the french and later the english. Also the traditional enemies of the Mohawk such as the algonquin and the huron were also in on the action. The relationship and trading with the dutch brought the mohawk guns and gun powder. .As a consequence the mohawk became dominant over the fur trade routes between Fort Orange and the north and west territories. There were treaties, pacts and aliances going on all over the place. Other indigenous nations and or the british and french were trying to gain the upper hand over the mohawk. Inter nation trade and the taxation of goods flowing through our territory are a tradition for our people. In one way or another this action continues to this day. More about this belt later...
